Job Description :

Job Summary:
Responsible for the overall supervision of the engineering department within the facility. These duties include but are not limited to the installation, repair and maintenance of the facility equipment, The oversight and upkeep of the physical plant including utility services, HVAC, plumbing and electronic equipment upkeep in the best manner possible for the safety and health of all concerned, and to coordinate these activities as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Provides supervision and is responsible for the implementation of all preventive maintenance and repair operations at the facility
· Schedule emergency repair activities according to priority and the abilities of assigned personnel
· Provides technical advice, encouragement and instruction to subordinates in such areas as mechanical systems, hydraulic systems, and safety procedures
· Perform equipment inspections, noting equipment condition, insuring that proper maintenance is being performed in accordance with AES standards
· Coordinate facility projects as requested by customer (window washing, garage cleaning, roof repair, etc.)
· Knowledge of, and experience with the location and function of building life safety systems including controls panels, smoke / duct detectors, sprinkler systems, pull stations, strobe lights, horns, fire doors, etc.
· Responsible for the implementation of the quality assurance program for all work performed by the department
· Ensures that the general safety, and fire prevention regulations are enforced, and safe working habits are promoted throughout the facility
· Personally leads safety training initiatives, ensuring compliance with safety indoctrination training, and continuing safety training
1. Make sure staff and any subcontractors meet Chevron’s SWP requirements
2. Establish a safety sensitive culture in team
3. Help enforce safety culture through site and subs that perform work on site
4. Manage site operations and permits including (JSA, work permit, hot work, roof, etc.)
· Recommends equipment purchases to replace obsolete equipment items and provide assistance in formulation long-range equipment replacement requirements and coordinates actions with contractors
· Participate in site operations and project meetings as requested
· Assists in the development and implementation of operation and extraordinary expense budgets as required
· Establishes standards and work methods; takes steps to assure quantity of performance, and evaluates results
· Establishes plans for improving departmental work emphasizing efficiency and economy
· Communicates policies and procedures, discusses job problems, and employee concerns with supervisors and employees
· Encourages development of habits and attitudes for improved performance and good employee attitudes.
· Direct, train, evaluate, and counsel all engineering personnel
· Ensures that the building systems are operated in the most efficient and effective manner especially as it relates to utility consumption and environmental responsibility
· Maintains an on-going self-improvement program to keep abreast of new equipment, standards, codes, and maintenance procedures
· Schedules engineering staff for regular workday, holiday, vacation, vacation relief, and emergency call out.
· Responsible for the implementation and promotion of the following:
1. Supports and follows operational policies and standards

Skills, Education and Experience:
· Experience that is commensurate with the specific facility for the position of Chief Engineer. Prefer 5+ years progressive operations experience, or Associate’s degree from a two year college or technical school
· Strong employee relation skills, coaching skills and training skills
· Experience managing safety education and compliance in the workplace
· Site specific safety training and certification
· As required, highest-level relevant state/local license for Stationary Engineer and/or HVAC, plus universal level refrigerant recovery license
· BOMA accredited courses desirable
· Preferred: Haz-Mat Certification, Indoor Air Quality Certification, LEED Certification
· Certification meeting OSHA ACM awareness training requirements as required
· Strong oral and written communication skills
· Ability to work with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
· Computer skills and building automation systems experience required
· Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where some standardization exists
· Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
· Must be able to understand and communicate effectively in English to customers, vendors, and other staff
Physical Demands:

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk and hear
· Employees are frequently required reach with hands and arms, and is occasionally required to climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
· Must regularly lift and or move up to 50 pounds
· Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
Work Environment:
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts, occasionally works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and the risk of electrical shock
· Noise level in the work environment can be moderate to loud
